Finding a Realtor in Austin

Selecting a Realtor in Austin can be a confusing process for home buyers and home
sellers. How do you know who to trust? What about the claims that the agents are
making? One agent claims to be the best in Austin at marketing homes, but has only sold
2 homes…ever. Another claims to be the #1 agent in Austin, but they are #3 in their own
office.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to verify real estate agents’ claims about their
production. So if you’re looking to sell your home in Austin, or if you’re looking to hire a
Realtor to help you buy a home in Austin, how do you choose?
Ask people. Find referrals. Get a recommendation from a friend, find one who has a
website you like, however you choose, interview a few. Then interview at least 2 if not
3 agents and pick the one you connect with the best. Production statistics are usually a
very minor part of the equation. Often the most productive agents are simply the best at
generating leads, not at helping people with their real estate needs.
